Ramblings -- thoughts about God, life, the beauty of His creation and
the ways in which we can appreciate the creation and the Creator.

It has been our great privilege to take many trips across this
beautiful United States of America, some driving and some flying. Awesome beauty is evident during travel in either
mode of transportation. Air travel gives a BIG picture of large sections of the country in one glance. The curves of
the lake shores, the turns of the rivers, the lights of the cities (and towns), and the grandeur of the mountains and
canyons are all evident in a glance out the window.
A drive across the USA gives a closer
view, and once the interstates are left behind, and the road signs say "US 30", or "PA 253", or "US 89", or "AK 1", the view
becomes pretty intimate. Driving through small towns and seeing the people close to their homes and businesses and churches
yields a feeling of strength. I cherish the waves from farmers on tractors and from kids on the way to the ball field.
I am always encouraged by the sight of the myriad of churches that dot our land.
Days such as 9/11/01 tend to strip away
the veneer we use to cover our trust, need, and faith in God. We may like to think of ourselves as tough and needing
no help, but the desire for the help, guidance, and comfort of our Lord lies pretty close the surface, and we are glad it
is so available.
